Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 7, 2026

Big Time Publishing ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. By using our website at bigtimepublishing.com or any of our services, you agree to the practices described below.

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information in the following ways:

  • Information you provide directly — When you fill out a contact form, book a call, purchase a product or service, sign up for our newsletter, or join our community, we may collect your name, email address, and any details you share about your book project.

  • Payment information — If you make a purchase, payment details are processed by our third-party payment processors (such as Stripe or PayPal) and are not stored on our servers.

  • Automatically collected data — Our website (hosted on Squarespace) may automatically collect certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring URL. This is standard for most websites.

  • Community platforms — If you join our Heartbeat community, that platform has its own privacy practices which govern your use there.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect to:

  • Deliver services you've requested, including coaching, editing, and publishing support

  • Send our newsletter and relevant updates (only if you've opted in)

  • Respond to inquiries and support requests

  • Process payments and maintain records

  • Improve our website and understand how visitors use it

  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

3. EMAIL COMMUNICATIONS

If you subscribe to the Big Time Newsletter, we will send you publishing tips, tools, templates, and occasional updates about our services. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any email. We use a third-party email platform (such as Squarespace Email Campaigns or Mailchimp) to send these communications.

4. COOKIES & TRACKING

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored on your device — to help the site function properly and to understand how visitors use it. Squarespace, our website platform, may also use cookies for analytics and performance purposes. You can disable cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not function as intended if you do.

5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We use a number of trusted third-party platforms to operate our business. These may include:

  • Squarespace — website hosting and analytics

  • Heartbeat — community platform

  • HoneyBook or similar — scheduling and client management

  • Stripe / PayPal — payment processing

  • Email marketing platforms — newsletter delivery

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them if you have questions about how your data is handled within those platforms.

6. DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide services to you or as required by law. If you'd like us to delete your information, please contact us (see Section 11).

7. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of your information

  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time

  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

To exercise any of these rights, please reach out to us directly.

8. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our services are intended for adults (18 and older). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back periodically.

10. CONFIDENTIALITY & NON-DISCLOSURE

We understand that what you share with us is deeply personal. Your book idea, manuscript, story, business vision, and any creative or proprietary information you disclose during our work together is treated as strictly confidential.

What we keep confidential:

  • Your book concepts, titles, outlines, and manuscript content in any stage of development

  • Personal stories, experiences, or sensitive subject matter shared as part of your project

  • Business strategies, brand concepts, or proprietary information disclosed during coaching or consulting sessions

  • Any other non-public information you share with us in the course of receiving our services

How we protect it:

  • We will not share, disclose, reproduce, or discuss your confidential information with any third party without your explicit written consent.

  • We will not use your confidential information for any purpose other than providing the services you have engaged us for.

  • Any team members or contractors who assist with your project are bound by the same confidentiality obligations.

Exceptions: Confidentiality obligations do not apply to information that (a) is or becomes publicly available through no fault of ours, (b) was already known to us prior to your disclosure, (c) is required to be disclosed by law or court order, or (d) you have given us explicit written permission to share.

Your obligations: By engaging our services, you also agree to keep confidential any proprietary methods, processes, templates, pricing, or internal business information shared with you by Big Time Publishing that is not publicly available.

This confidentiality commitment survives the end of our working relationship and remains in effect indefinitely.
